The Jackson Lions Club was proud to present and host its first Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Rodeo Sept. 13 and 14, 2014, at the Amador County Fairgrounds.

"We had to dream big," said rodeo spokesperson Todd Riebe. "The Lions motto is 'We Serve.' Every year, we raise more than $100,000 and give it all back to the community, yet it is not enough. The needs of our community have grown greater than our Club's capacity to meet them."

The Lions knew they had to develop something with the potential of being a major fundraising project in years to come.  This event is the biggest undertaking the Club has had in 30 years.

"We chose a rodeo because, quite frankly, this is rodeo country," Riebe added.  "The community has been hungry for an event like this for a long time, and the Amador County Fair has been a great partner that understands the potential of this event to really blossom. PRCA is the top of the line by offering the best professional cowboys and stock in the business. The legendary Cotton Rosser and the Flying U Rodeo are the best at what they do."

The Jackson Lions Rodeo Queen Contest will be held on May 24 at the Howard Park Horse Arena in Ione, Calif.  The winner will receive a saddle and the Queen and her court will each receive a silver belt buckle.  The Rodeo Queen will preside over the Rodeo festivities in September.

In addition to the rodeo, the event will host a Home Expo featuring a number of businesses and organizations displaying their products and services. On Saturday, the Jackson Lions will have the fairgrounds sparkling with the brilliance of beautifully restored automotive excellence during the multi-acre Classic Car Show. Saturday evening, the Chris Gardner Band will entertain the crowd with their boot-shakin' country-rock tunes.  And, of course, folks won’t go hungry or thirsty thanks to the menus and drinks provided by local non-profit groups.

Proceeds benefit numerous community organizations. The Amador County Fairgrounds is located at 18621 Sherwood Street in Plymouth, Calif. For more information, visitjacksonlionsclub.org/rodeo or call (209) 418-9071. Find them on Facebook at www.facebook/JacksonLionsPRCARodeo
